Color Blocking

The concept of color blocking doesn’t have to be limited to arranging bookshelves and decor. One of my favorite ways to add interest to the practical, yet overlooked kitchen shelf, is to employ color blocking. The endless pairing options from alternating shelving, mix and match dishware and contrasting wallpapers, make decorating Kitchens one of my favourite things to do in game.

To left is a simple design that pairs colored shelving with contrasting kitchenware. Here I chose to pair peacemaker shelves, in grey, with crisp white and pink china from dreamteamsims and meinkatz. I also incorporated a touch of decor on the upper shelving. I like adding unexpected objects to functional spaces, try to remove the idea that certain objects can only used somewhere if they are “correct”.

“Using a backsplash is a great way to change walls without being confined to the in game placement grid”

There are many different looks one can achieve by employing this technique. In another example, the addition of thick wooden shelves adds charm to the classic, subway-tile backsplash. The mixture of burgundy vases from KH Agate, contrasting white and grey china, (dreamteamsims and meinkatz again) paired with greenery adds warmth. The combination of textures and variation of objects add interest and compliment any contemporary farmhouse style home.

“Remember that shelves don’t have to be full to look finished. When aiming for sophistication in an already busy room, space and simplicity are your friends.”

“Another great trick is to double up on shelf thickness, If you want to avoid needing an OMSP placer, make sure to decorate your shelves first before placing more shelves to add thickness. This stops your objects from overlapping footprints while you place them.”

On your patreon site, the link for the Sulani Makeover – Mua Pel’am Estate is the same as the link for the St. Taz Private Beach. Could you please send me the corrected link?

As to what I think, I think your work is amazing! The designs you create for the Sims 4 rivals that of actual interior designers of real-life furnishings. Your talent is truly amazing and I like to check in from time to time just to get inspiration for decorating my own Sim’s dwellings. I do hope that you won’t fade away as some of the most iconic custom content creators have done, such as Daer0n. Thank you for your builds! My sim’s worlds would be nothing without it.

Hello – I have corrected the link on the post but here it is. Also I appreciate the kind words, so far I am still enjoying sims immensely and building so I don’t foresee leaving any time soon. Also having a great time learning how to make CC for the game and eventually I’ll be able to execute more unique ideas once I create the objects I need!
